Co-Producing a Social Impact Assessment with Affected Communities: Evaluating the Social Sustainability of Redevelopment Schemes

This paper explores the role of social impact assessment (SIA) as a tool to evaluate sustainability council estate redevelopment or regeneration. The first revises evolution concept SIA in recent years, arguing that it should be included core part planning approval process enhance community-centred decision-making practices, claimed by Just Space network London. To contribute this argument, how co-produce an with those communities are potentially affected scheme. We use case study William Dunbar and Saville houses, two housing blocks located South Kilburn Estate, London Borough Brent, which planned demolished large uses diversity participatory action research methods residents from blocks. From experience co-producing residents, comes out three sets findings contributions. Firstly, provides on demolishing homes re-housing would have residents. Secondly, these findings, contributes argument incorporated into system, but they co-produced carefully applied rather than becoming another box-ticking exercise.
